British holiday makers seeking winter and summer sun in the year 2026 have been given a significant boost after the major airlines declare to make colossal growth in flights to the Canary Islands.
Jet2 is leading the expansion in the addition of more than 46,000 additional seats to the Spanish islands. The airline intends to fly about 260 flights per week by the season 2026 summer season in 14 airports in the UK.
Key New Routes for Your Diary
This growth also involves a number of significant new links between key UK hubs:
- Manchester to La Palma: Jet2 will operate twice a week to the so-called hidden gem island starting April 3, 2026.
- London Gatwick to Tenerife: New flights will be introduced on March 26, 2026.
- London Gatwick to La Palma: A new non-scheduled flight beginning October 24, 2026.
- London Stansted to La Palma: Introducing October 26, 2026.

More Choices in the North and Wales
It is not only Jet2 that is expanding its reach. easyJet is inaugurating a new base at Newcastle Airport in the spring that entails launching a new route to Tenerife on August 1, 2026.
Also, TUI has recently expanded its operations in Wales. The passengers flying out of Cardiff can also enjoy the increased frequency of flights to Gran Canaria and Tenerife as the airline introduced approximately 48,000 additional seats to the Welsh airport over the summer period.
Why the Change?
Airlines are reacting to a high demand in the Canary Islands that has been unmatched. The travel providers are also providing UK tourists with more options when it comes to destinations other than the traditional hotspots of Tenerife and Lanzarote because they are turning the smaller islands into major holiday gateways, such as La Palma.
Be it a spring break or you are preparing next winter, 2026 is now looking like the most available year so far to have a vacation in the Canaries.
