The airport said that on Sunday they were working to get things back to normal and expected flights today to be unaffected.
After a ‘major power cut” wreaked desolation on travel plans, Manchester Airport’s two main terminals have resumed flight departures.
After a tense hold, the wait is over! Flights are cleared for takeoff at Manchester Airport.
Manchester Airport announced on Sunday afternoon that they’re getting things back to normal and flights planned for today should run on time.
Earlier on Sunday, passengers were advised not to come to the site because the provision had informed all flights from terminals 1,2 were cancelled “until further notice”
People had to wait a long time for their flights, who were already at the airport, but in terminal 3, travelers were largely unaffected.
Some people’s baggage was not on flights.
Manchester Airport’s managing director, Mr. Chris Woodroof apologized for the confusion. He says,
Fault with cable had caused a power surge that took down security systems and baggage screening, and 20% of our flights have been cancelled so far. Tomorrow we are very much hoping to run an entirely scheduled operation.
Mr. Woodroof said an investigation into what happened was set to take place.
Lindsay Mitchell clung to hope that she and her family could make their year planned trip to Turkey later that Sunday.
Ms. Mitchell told:
We were advised this morning not to travel to Manchester Airport but we’d thought we’d chance it as our flight’s not until teatime, fingers crossed. “and “You have got to make the best of a bad situation. It’s not the airline’s fault, it’s not Manchester Airport’s fault, it’s no one’s fault, it’s just one of those freaky things that happen in everyday life.
