United Airlines is upgrading much faster and more reliable internet access to passengers while they’re in the air. The SpaceX company, owned Star Link satellites by Elon Musk’s Star Link satellites, launched this network. United Airlines is allowing passengers to use their devices to connect to the internet.
more than 1000 planes, United Airlines is adding free high-speed internet for passengers to use during their journey. This means the installation will take place over the next few years.
“Everything you can do on the ground, you’ll soon be able to do onboard a United plane at 35,000 feet, just about anywhere in the world,” says United CEO Scott Kirby.
United Airlines is currently using four different Wi-Fi providers,
Intelsat is used on regional jets.
ViaSat: used on 737 Max aircraft and used by American and Delta airlines.
Panasonic—used on wide-body jets.
Travellers can use one of these providers for their wi-fi. WestJet, Qatar Airways, and Air New Zealand these airlines also planning to use StarLink, and this will put pressure on other airlines to improve their flights.
Chair of the Federal Communications Commission, Jessica Rosenworcel, said she wanted to see more competition for SpaceX’s Starlink. Since 2018, 7,000 satellites Elon Musk’s company SpaceX has launched. “almost two-thirds of the satellites that are in space right now,” according to Rosenworcel. “Our economy doesn’t benefit from monopolies. So we’ve got to invite many more space actors in, many more companies that can develop constellations and innovations in space.”
T-Mobile has successfully tested Starlink Satellite. T-Mobile, SpaceX, AT&T, Verizon, Apple, and Google are working on providing satellite, and now people can make calls, send texts. Now they can use their phone even if they’re not connected to a cellular network.
