How East Midlands Airport Began

The East Midlands Airport is in North West Leicestershire. It is the main airport for travellers from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and the areas around it, such as North Yorkshire and Staffordshire. Now that more than 20 companies are based there, East Midlands is one of the largest airports in the UK.

The military history of East Midlands Airport

At first, in wheres east midlands, the airport was an RAF base called RAF Castle Donington. It was used during the Second World War. It was taken out of service in 1946, and the Local Government Authorities bought it. But it wasn’t until 1964 that plans were made to build a new runway and turn the airbase into an airport. Food and drinks: There aren’t many food and drink options at East Midlands Airport, but you’ll be able to find something to eat. AMT Coffee and Caffe Ritazza are two places you can go before security. You can find Burger King, SoHo Coffee Company, Three Shire Foodmarket, and The Runway Bar in the arrivals area.
